There used to be a picture of a machine gun wielding cat here, but it became old meme. Then there was an advertisement for 'Gay Top', a vinyl table topper that had nothing to do with M4M on Craigslist. Any confusion in the comments is derived from this. Now that I have sucked all the humour out of life, please enjoy your stay.

It's ironic that one of the most left leaning sites, a site that prides itself on championing the little man, has such horrible, bitter opinions about women. I don't bother commenting when the foaming woman-hating comes to the fore; any time I have seen a woman try to counter their delusions they get labeled a misandrist.

I've decided I'm going to start linking to every sexist comment I find from now on.

Dear LiveJournal,

St. Patrick's Day is rolling around again, I'd like to take a moment to lay some early ground rules.

It is St. Paddy's Day, not ever St. Patty's or St. Pattie's Day.

Please refrain from saying Erin go bragh or Tiocfaidh ár lá.

Remember, Shamrock = 3 leaves = correct. 4 leaf clover = wrong plant = wrong number of leaves = obviously no fucking clue why the shamrock was used by St. Patrick in the first place = retarded.

As far as the rest of the leprechaun/green beer/shillelaghs/long way to tipperary/top o' the morning to you stuff goes, feel free to continue taking the unmerciful piss out of us.

Thankssomuch x

I haven't been around this week partly because of House Party & Hausfrauing, but mostly because of Mass Effect.

Sort of crap things:

- I still don't like not being able to jump over obstacles. It really, really pissed me off in Perfect Dark Zero, G.R.A.W, Splinter Cell, and it's a testament to just how awesome ME is that I barely noticed it after a few minutes.

- Having to manage saved games.

- Waiting an eternity for the next bit of the level to load.

- Falling into the RPG leveling up obsession.

Awesome things:

- Even though it can be uncomfortably similar to a lot of other RPGs and FPSs, it hasn't just directly stolen plot & plot devices, but rather crafted them into something far more rewarding to play. YES I AM LOOKING AT YOU HALO. Apart from the whole biotic & tech powers scroll wheel; while it's totally awesome, the BioShock system still trumps it. Although using RB & LB is more intuitive than RS & LS... Aargh, I'm undecided.

- The Mako.

- Dialog in an RPG that didn't make me want to throw the television out the window.

- Other reviews claimed it was a bit complicated to get into the swing of. These fuckers never had to play G.R.A.W.

- Everything else.

Also, now that Spore actually has a release date, I have decided I'm over it. This could be down to playing Civ IV again and remembering just how much micro managing annoys me.

HOLY SHIT, I AM EATING A GRAPPLE AND IT IS BLOWING MY MIND.

Who did I hear about these from? I know I saw someone writing about then either in someone's journal or in a comm one day. I didn't see how it could work, but now I do. The smell reminds of holidays in Michigan, zooming around the vineyard on my Aunt's golf cart.

In other news, I am beginning to come to term with Vera's death, but Coronation Street is 6 months or so in the past over here, so I have to wait an AGE before I can have a good sob while watching the funeral. Did Curly show up? Or Terry? Or is Terry dead now? :/

My daily poetry lies in the ritual of washing, drying and folding my family's clothes; the peaceful bliss of poring over a white hoody with Tide-to-go and Clorox bleach pens is the closest my laundry meditation comes to Nirvana. There is no smell as satisfying as that of sheets draped over doors, air-drying to keep their cool softness.

This afternoon, I stuck my head into an armful of clothes hot from the dryer and it reminded me of the joy of biting into yeast bread barely out of the oven. Tom and I duly set about the tasks of dissolving yeast, milling flour and trying to convince a four year old to wait patiently for dough to rise. As you have to become moderately selfless when you become a parent, Tom got the joy of knocking back the dough with several THWACKS, while the more mundane task of kneading was left to me. He helped see if it was elastic enough when the ten minutes of kneading was over with judicious poking of the dough with his strong little fingers. Some minor reshaping later, and we had a plaited loaf & 3 rolls ready to rise a little more before baking.

For dinner tonight I made a tomato, broccoli & portobella ragout, which we had with bread. I was secretly pleased when I got a tomato splash on my sand coloured hoody as I can get down to business with my stain removal pens again tomorrow morning.
